In a refugee crisis, school access is often the first to go. For many children, it never comes back. Access to safety, food, shelter, and money often displace the perceived luxury of an education, and kids—especially girls—simply stop learning. To offset this devastating reality, the ADRA Learning Center in Lebanon provides free education to Syrian refugee children. “They like to come here, and they like to learn,” said Eliane, the coordinator for the center. “They have purpose for their lives.”
